Stained glass gray hoot owl has been constructed using dense gray and white glass along with amber glass for the bird's bill. The eyes are of textured golden amber glass with black glass globs glued on for pupils.
This owl suncatcher measures 7 1/2 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches wide, 19 cm by 14 cm.
All of the glass pieces besides the black glass gems have been cut by hand to fit. Each piece is then wrapped with copper foil and both front and back soldered together. The entire owl has then been wrapped with lead came, a type of lead channel framing for strength. The bird's bill has been wrapped with a thinner type of came then tack soldered to the body. Finally, the pupils have been glued on using an extra strong industrial strenght grade clear adhesive. A single loop has been soldered to the back for hanging, chain will be included.
