These earrings feature 9 carats of leaf shaped Peridot briolettes, 8 carats of faceted Pink Chalcedony heart briolettes, 1.5 carats of Pink Spinel rondelles, sterling silver ear wires and findings.

Peridot is the birthstone for August and the 15th anniversary gemstone.

Peridot is the gem variety of the mineral olivine. Its chemical composition includes iron and magnesium, and iron is the cause of its attractive yellowish green colors. The gem often occurs in volcanic rocks called basalts, which are rich in these two elements.

The color range for peridot is narrow, from a brown-green color to yellowish green to pure green. Yellowish green is the most common peridot color seen in jewelry.

Today, the most important deposits are found in Pakistan, Myanmar (Burma) and Vietnam. Other deposits are found in Australia (Queensland), Brazil (Minas Gerais), China, Kenya, Mexico, Norway (north of Bergen), South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and the United States (Arizona and Hawaii). Recently, China has become of the largest producers of peridot.

These particular Peridot beads were mined in China.

Pink Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline type of quartz.

This gemstone exhibits a phenomenon called chatoyancy or iridescence throughout the stone.

Chalcedony is also known to possess slight piezoelectricity, similar to that of tourmaline, which means it can carry a small electrical charge.

These Pink Chalcedony gems were mined in India.
