Pink Sapphires are considered "fancy sapphires. Like rubies, sapphires belong to the corundum family of gemstones.

Besides blue sapphire and ruby, the corundum family also includes so-called “fancy sapphires."They come in violet, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and intermediate hues.

Some stones exhibit the phenomenon known as color change, most often going from blue in daylight or fluorescent lighting to purple under incandescent light. Sapphires can even be gray, black, or brown.

Sapphire is the birthstone for September and the gem of the 5th and 45th anniversaries.

The classic source for pink sapphire has always been Sri Lanka, with some material coming from Burma. In recent years, fine pink sapphire from Africa has made an appearance on the international market, with Madagascar and Tanzania being the most important of the new African sources. These Pink Sapphire beads were mined by the Johnson Mines in Africa.

This bracelet also features 24K Rose Gold Karen Hill Tribe beads. They are handcrafted by artisans from the Karen Hill Tribe of Thailand using traditional methods passed down from generation to generation.
