Combining my love of glass with nature I've created a unique cicada wing suncatcher that's also a windchime.
Overall measument is 19 inches long by 9 1/2 inches wide, 48 cm by 24 cm.
The cicada glass wings are hand painted glass enamel that is fused into the surface. The clear wings are luminescent on both sides, the green wings and small leaves are luminescent on one side. The brilliant copper wire has been salvaged from an old electric motor and the piece of wood is cedar, from the tree that fell into the foundation of my house that burned down. I have a limited amount of it so have been saving it for projects that I think are special. Its on the side of being a quiet chime with just delicate tinklings of the wings when they meet.
Copper ball chain spans from one side of the cedar to the other for displaying.
