Tsavorite garnet is a rare green to emerald colored variety of grossular garnet. The intense green of tsavorite is owed to traces of vanadium or chromium. This desirable hue can cause tsavorite to be mistaken for fine emeralds.
The name "tsavorite" comes from the place where it was first discovered; Tsavo National Park in Tanzania on the borders of Kenya and Tanzania.
These tsavorite garnets were mined in Tanzania.
Garnet is the birthstone for January and the gem for the second anniversary.
This bracelet also features silver Karen Hill Tribe beads. These beads have been handcrafted by artisans of the Karen Hill Tribe of northern Thailand. These artisans use traditional methods of metalsmithing handed down from generation-to-generation. They are 97% pure silver, as opposed to sterling silver which is 92.5% pure.
