Chalcedony Quartz appears in a variety of colors: white, blue, red, green, yellow, orange, brown, pink, purple, gray, black, colorless, and multicolored. Chalcedony is sometimes banded in many different color combinations, and a few rarer forms are iridescent. It is not scientifically its own mineral species, but rather a form of Quartz in microcrystalline form.
Chalcedony possesses a phenomenon called adularescence. Adularescence is the light that appears to billow across a gem, creating a natural glow. Chalcedony is also known to possess slight piezoelectricity, similar to that of tourmaline, which means it can carry a small electrical charge.
Chalcedony is found in various locations around the world including the United States, Africa & Australia. These particular Pink Chalcedony gemstones were mined in India.
