Single stained glass cicada wing created using a shade of lightly textured light yellow green glass. I had encountered my first cicada about 15 years ago and have been fascinated with them ever since. This handcrafted insect wing measures 10 1/4 inches long by 3 1/2 inches wide, 26 cm by 9 cm.
All of the glass pieces have been hand cut and assembled in the Tiffany method using copper foil and solder, the entire wing has then been wrapped with a type of lead channel framing for strength. A single loop has been soldered to the wing with a small amount of chain included for hanging.
